About the Lesson

Students solve the original problem with 3 frogs on each side of the pond and record the number of moves. The number of frogs on each side of the pond is then changed and systematically explored to determine a relationship between the number of frogs on each side of the pond and the number of moves required to solve the problem. As an extension the number of frogs on each side of the pond is no longer equal. Students are posed a series of guiding questions to help them understand the algebra.
