Objectives
- Comparison of models for earnings based on linear and exponential functions
- Focus on functional representations and their uses (ie rule, graph, table)
- Emphasis on particular nature of exponential function as capable of rapid change depending on the ‘base’ value
Vocabulary
linear function, exponential function, function notation, constant ratio
About the Lesson
This task is designed to compare exponential function behaviour relative to linear function behaviour. It uses the context of payment schemes to look at how simple rules for constant change and constant multiplier impact the payments from each scheme over time.
