A simple measuring activity allows students to explore the sometimes difficult concept of significant figures, both manually and with the help of the Science Tools App's Sig-Fig Calculator.
Students measure their textbook and then use the Sig-Fig calculator in the SciTools App to calculate its perimeter and volume as well as the number of significant digits in their answers.
Students then compare their calculations of the number of significant digits in a calculation to those of the Sig-Fig Calculator.
