Physical Science: Vernier - Freezing and Melting of Water

Objectives

• Students will collect temperature data during the freezing and melting of water.
• Students will analyze graphs to determine the freezing and melting temperatures of water.
• Students will determine the relationship between the freezing and melting temperatures of water.

About the Lesson

In this experiment, students will learn that the freezing temperature is the temperature at which a substance turns from liquid to solid, and melting temperature is the temperature at which a substance turns from a solid to a liquid.  Students will use the EasyTemp^TM or Go!^TMTemp or Temperature Probe in this experiment.
